This fort's resurrection has unveiled lost secrets and revived the city's history. Principal Conservation Architect Sumesh Modi noted clues of untold history within the castle. However, the fort had suffered from neglect, with crumbling walls and fading artwork. The Smart Cities mission enlisted over a dozen architects and consultants to restore it, using natural materials to preserve its original state. Today, Surat Fort is a stunning testament to the city's history and craftsmanship, attracting tourists and instilling pride in locals. Shalini Agrawal, Chairman of Surat Smart City, highlights its growing popularity, while tourist Vimal Makwana and Sumesh Modi emphasize the importance of cultural exploration and the fort's role as a bridge to the past.
