In this video I'll be taking a look at the Sterling by Music Man Mariposa. This is the signature model of Mars Volta/At The Drive In guitarist Omar Rodriguez Lopez.

Sterling are a sub-brand of Music Man guitars who are part of the Ernie Ball family. The Sterling range is Indonesian made and comes in at a much lower price point while retaining a lot of the quality of their American counterparts.

The Mariposa sits at just under £700 and it's a lot of guitar for the money. It's lightweight and comfortable to play. It's a no frills workhorse loaded with a pair of vintage voiced humbuckers, a three way switch and two volume controls.

The roasted maple neck gives a touch of class and the locking tuners keep it tightly in tune even when you start abusing the tremolo system.

In the video I am plugged into the Blackstar Studio 10 6L6 which is mic'd with a Lewitt Audio LCT440 condenser mic. I am also running a Surfy Industries Surfy Bear Classic spring reverb. The overdrive in the video comes from the Ceriatone Centura and the Analogman King of Tone.
