BIO: Linda Zimmermann spent over 30 years searching for information on Civil War soldier Albion Brooks, of the 8th Connecticut Volunteer Infantry. Uncovering Brooks' letters and diaries and then following in his footsteps from Maine to North Carolina, her biography of this soldier also became something of an autobiography of both her figurative and literal journeys. Of all her dozens of books, "A Civil War Soldier and Me" is the most personal and the most meaningful, as a man who died almost 100 years before she was born became like a member of her family.
