Iran to host Pakistan-Taliban talks with Russia and China on December 16-17. This follows recent escalations as Pakistan accuses the Taliban of sheltering groups like Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), while the Taliban denies this. Iran’s MFA Spox announced that, at Tehran’s initiative, representatives from Pakistan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, China, and Russia will convene to discuss peace building and tension-reduction. Recently India at the UN Security Council, condemned Pakistan’s attack on Afghanistan and said that the international community should adopt a “reality-based and practical engagement” with Kabul instead of pressure. China had said the international community should engage appropriately with the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA). Russia stated that no one should use the language of threats against the IEA.
