Mt. Mansfield Hiking: Hell Brook Trail

Rated one of the most difficult hikes in Vermont, for good reason: unrelenting steepness and several near-technical scrambles. But fun! The hike up reminded me of why I choose to descend by the Long Trail (NOTE: I also recommend a descent TO the Long Trail by the Profanity Trail--took it last time, didn't swear once!). N.B. On the ASCENT, the Hell Brook Cutoff provides direct access to the Profanity Trail, but it also could be faster to descend the Long Trail from the top of the Hell Brook Trail TO the Profanity.

CORRECTION: The Story Trail is closed, which is why it doesn't appear on the signboard map.
