Ambaji is located in the Banaskantha district of Gujarat. This is one of the 51 Shakti Peeths of Mata which is very popular. It is here that the heart of Mata Si fell and therefore it is counted among the major Shakti Peeths. The distance from Ahmedabad to Ambaji is 174 KM. Ambaji can be reached directly by road. And by rail, the nearest railway stations are Palanpur and Abu Road. By air, the nearest airport is Ahmedabad. There are two temples in Ambaji, one temple is on top of the hill which is the ancient temple of Ambaji called Gabbar. And there is a main temple in Ambaji city which is huge. There is no idol of Mother in this temple but Shree Yantra is worshiped here. The Shri Yantra is decorated in such a fine manner that it looks as if the Mother is seated on her own. If you come to Ambaji, then you must see both the temples, there is a facility of Udan Khatole to go to Gabbar. There are about 1000 steps from the bottom to the top for walking. Apart from these two main temples, Koteshwar is also home to the ancient temple of Ambaji, which is the temple of Mahadev, and nearby are Valmiki Ashram and Kamakshi Temple. Mangalya forest is also a very beautiful place to visit.
