Driving in Belgium and the Netherlands: A25 and A2 (E25) from Liège to Eindhoven

In this longer video you can drive along from Liège in Belgium, all the way to Eindhoven in the Netherlands. It's a distance of just a bit more than 100 kilometers but takes fairly long these days because of the 100 km/h speed limit in the Netherlands.

Liège and its metropolitan area are the 4th largest in Belgium and are situated in the French part of Belgium, close to the border with the Netherlands and Germany. Maastricht is only a 15-20 minute drive away and the German city Aachen about half an hour.

The A25 E25 on the Belgian side runs right next to the Meuse river for a while, which is quite neat but of course brings about expansion issues. Especially during summer holidays when international cross-border traffic peaks it can get quite congested around Liège. Right before the border there is a short stretch of road in really poor condition. This is due to the fact that it crosses different local territories across a very short distance and so far little financial responsibility has been taken to fix it up.

Across the border it's only a few minutes more until the Netherlands' Southern most big city: Maastricht. Until a few years ago the busy A2 E25 still ran straight through the city with traffic lights. A big infrastructural overhaul saw the construction of a 2,5 kilometer tunnel which we drive through in this video, named after the Dutch King Willem-Alexander. Right before the tunnel there is the possibility to take the local N2 expressway, very similar to the Randweg in Eindhoven, that serves local urban exits. The A2 tunnel is just for through traffic. Watch your speed, as the Dutch trajectory control is in place there, calculating your average speed across a certain stretch of road.

After passing Maastricht, it's still a little bit further to Eindhoven, the next major Dutch city on this route. In the last bit we enter the city from the South.
