A tour of Humble, Texas (A city with live music and history)

A drove into Humble on the way into Porter for a gig at DECA Beer Company. Humble is a small town of about 17k located 20 miles or 20 minutes of a drive away from downtown Houston, Texas. It has a history in oil production, being the biggest producing oil field in Texas in the early 1900's. Downtown Humble has a main street with some interesting storefronts where you can find Humble City Cafe. They'll give you a big old pan of cornbread even if you just come there by yourself and I did eat all that cornbread but I split it up with the first half as appetizer and the second half as dessert. Green Oaks Tavern is right next to the cafe and I finally had a chance to check it out after hearing so much about the place. Jamie Lynn Vessels band was playing and they were having a great time playing music and trying to keep up with all the drinks that the audience was buying them. It was a great venue with tables right next to the stage and table service and little signs that tell people not to have loud conversations while the band is playing. Eventually I made it to DECA beer company for the gig and had a great time with a nice supportive crowd. Thanks to Tostino's for the Puerto Rican infused empanadas. Good times.
