We try AINU CUISINE in SAPPORO, JAPAN

After watching Ainu Mosir last year, I became interested in Ainu culture and food. The Ainu people are indigenous to Japan and their population has historically inhabited Hokkaido and northern Honshu. There are some major Ainu villages around Hokkaido, but Sapporo is home to very few Ainu restaurants.
When we heard Umizora no Haru, we knew it was something we had to try. Although I don't mention it in this video, as of recording, this was the only restaurant in Sapporo that received permission from a specific Ainu council to create the room we dined in, which emulates a traditional Ainu dwelling and dining area.
We would highly recommend this restaurant to those looking for something different than the typical 'japanese' cuisine, but want to explore, even if in just a small way, the Ainu culture that is still in Sapporo.
