You can operate systems most effectively by using a process. Each system has a set number of steps that must be completed in order for it to function, and those steps are combined to form a process. In order for marketing to actually exist within your company, for instance, you must take a number of smaller steps, which together make up your marketing system. However, when we use marketing as an example, we can see how systems inside systems are truly presented. In order to make each of these smaller systems—such as social media, advertising, partnerships, and sponsorships—run as smoothly as possible, a procedure should be established around it that outlines the precise actions you must take each time you implement the system.

What distinguishes a system from a process for a business? The overarching "thing" or fundamental component of your business that you are trying to have and/or implement is a system. It is a tool that supports the operation of your company. The process is all the steps you take to ensure that a system operates as effectively as possible. A business can run better with a system. Your entire company is a system, in fact. There are, however, numerous additional systems that contribute to the system that is your organization.

If someone asked you what you do every day, every week, and every month to help build and maintain your business, you might list four or five essential tasks. These are the items you design for your company and the tasks you carry out to make it function as one. Accounting, community administration, content production, marketing, and even podcasting may be a few of these essential components.
