Many of you might remember Sony as a struggling giant which brought us products like the Walkman music player and Cybershot digital cameras. While Sony does still sell consumer electronics, Sony’s businesses have evolved immensely, and the Sony of today is a completely different beast than just 10 years ago.

Sifter Fund analyst Karl-Johan Lidsle will introduce you to Sony's three business units that account for 2/3 of Sony’s profits today – and we think that their importance for Sony will continue to grow. We estimate that Sony's operating profit will grow at an annual rate of 8% over the next five years.

Sifter invested in Sony in August 2021. The share has appreciated 22.8% in euros since the initial investment. Over the same period, the global equity index, MSCI ACWI, generated just 4.1% return in euros (27.8.–4.11.2021).
