I cringe when I hear people say their room is "echoey," because, it's just not.

If you need to “get rid of echo in a room,” you actually probably just have a lot of reverb, or reverberation, not echo.

I am a stickler for doing things the right way, and "echo" gets misused so much by non-audio people and it just drives me nuts!

I encourage you to learn the difference here and learn the proper terminology to describe your, possibly, terrible sounding room.
