Disneyland's Aladdin's Oasis Show May 1994

Disneyland’s Aladdin’s Oasis show. This was shot in May of 1994 during lunch. The premise of the show is that you are in a restaurant in Agrabah and the owner Kaseem is your host and his brother-in-law Hassan is the comic sidekick. The show follows the general plot of the animated movie Aladdin with songs from the movie and other comical pieces.

During the show some of the songs are done as the performers run through the aisles. Jafar does a magic trick and makes Jasmine disappear. The show has some audience participation in it as well. Three people are picked out of the audience and then perform in a talent show called I Love that Gong. At the end of the show, Kaseem asks you to rub the golden lamp in the middle of your table to bring back Jasmine who Jafar has made disappear. Then Aladdin and Jasmine sing the song A Whole New World. The cast have a closing number and then you finish up with a chocolate lamp filled with chocolate mousse.

This video was shot on 8mm video tape and then transferred twice to get into a format that I could import into Final Cut Pro X. As 8mm audio was an analog signal and did not conform to how audio is recorded today, the audio goes in and out of sync with the video. Also during the middle of the video, the backlight button on the camera was hit since it was in odd place on the camera and this is why the video becomes very bright at times. I have done my best to color correct and white balance the video.

The video has its technical issues but is, I believe, the only version of the whole show to be uploaded to the internet.
