How to get out of bed at the same time every morning when living with chronic insomnia

Описание к видео How to get out of bed at the same time every morning when living with chronic insomnia

If you want to make long-term improvements to your sleep, it's so important to make sure that you get out of bed by the same time every day. If you don't do this, your body clock won't have a consistent morning anchor and this can make it much harder to fall asleep at night, and stay asleep throughout the night.

Unfortunately, getting out of bed by the same time every day can be very difficult if you are struggling with chronic insomnia — especially when you feel as though you might finally fall asleep and get a few hours of extra sleep just as your planned out-of-bed-time approaches.

Some techniques that might help you get out of bed by the same time each day include:

1. Setting an alarm clock and keeping it on the other side of the room so you have to get out of bed to switch it off.

2. Making plans with friends or family to meet at a certain time in the morning.

3. Putting your feet on the floor as soon as your alarm goes off — this is an uncomfortable position that might make it easier for you to motivate yourself to get out of bed!

4. Recognizing that getting out of bed by the same time each day is going to improve your sleep over the long-term (short-term pain for long-term gain).
