Best hikes near Chicago - Paradise Springs, Kettle Moraine, Wisconsin

At this point, pristine springs are sadly pretty much all that remains here at Paradise Springs, but there used to be several structures here. The once beautiful spring house with wooden-copper dome roof and colorful walls that was built in the 1930s is slowly crumbling away but retains its timeless character. The hotel has been removed, and all that's left from the spring water bottling plant is its foundation together with a few concrete steps. The dam is in need of repair and has been getting some work done - can't wait to see the pond cleaned up and the trout abundant again!

I wouldn't say the drive to Paradise Springs from Chicago is worth it on its own, but if you combine the trip with other hikes in the area (like the nearby Scuppernong Springs Nature Trail), Paradise Springs makes for an interesting stop.
