Mo Vaughn Mets Home Runs: 2002-2003

There isn't much online that features Mo Vaughn as a New York Met, but if you look close enough, you could find a few dingers here and there. I decided to put what I could find into one video. The links to the videos where I found them will be listed below.

Mo Vaughn was one of my favorite Mets during 2002-2003 and while his tenure here was cut short due to injuries, he certainly gave us some highlights before he left. Vaughn's time with the Mets was marked by high expectations, as he was seen as a crucial catalyst for their revamped lineup, which included notable acquisitions like Roger Cedeño, Jeromy Burnitz, and Roberto Alomar. Unfortunately, Vaughn faced a sluggish start in 2002, leading to criticism in local sports columns and radio shows due to his perceived lack of fitness.

Despite the initial struggles, Vaughn achieved a significant milestone by hitting his 300th career home run on April 3 against Kip Wells, the starting pitcher for the Pittsburgh Pirates. He also made a game-winning impact on June 16 by launching a three-run home run in the 8th inning, securing a 3–2 victory over the Yankees. Another memorable moment came on July 28 when Vaughn hit a remarkable 505-foot home run that landed precisely on the "Bud" sign on the Shea scoreboard. By the end of the season, he tallied 26 home runs and 72 RBI. (All featured in this video)

The following year, in 2003, Vaughn's knee problems cut his playing time to less than a month before prematurely ending his season. In January 2004, he made an announcement stating that his knee issues would prevent him from participating in the upcoming season. While his agent clarified that this wasn't a retirement announcement, Vaughn himself acknowledged the unlikelihood of his return to the field.
