PCEM: Overview of Different Machines from 1982 to 1999

[Synopsis]

In this video, I do an overview on different types of X86 computers, and configurations based on timeline. You have to use different machine configurations to run different kinds of software, because system requirements changed with time. For example, a 286 CPU, 1 MB of RAM with a 40 MB hard drive was adequate to run most programs in 1989, but in 1992 that wasn't enough to run even the most basic program. Other times, the hardware was too fast for the software, and the program wouldn't run correctly. It is important to know what kind of hardware configuration is appropriate for the software you want to run.

I grew up in the 1980s, so I saw the evolution of X86 computer hardware from the IBM XT to the Pentium III 500 Mhz in 1999. From different kinds of graphics adapters, like CGA to the 3dfx Voodoo 3. It is important to know which configurations will work, because if you don't know then it would lead to a machine that would not work. For example, if you made a machine that had a 386 SX processor coupled a S3 VirgeDX graphics card, and Sound Blaster 16, it wouldn't work, because PCI cards didn't exist in 1989. These are the various nuances you must know. This video shows you various hardware configurations from that era.
