Описание к видео Bunk'Art, Tirana, Albania

Between 1975 and 1983, the ultra paranoid Albanian dictator Enver Hoxha planned to build 221,413 bunkers across Albania. He only (!) ended up building 173,371 (nearly one for every 11 residents). Hundreds of soldiers and civilians died due to work accidents during the constructions.

Bunk’Art is the largest of the bunkers, located on the outskirts of Tirana. It was built between 1972 and 1978 to withstand a nuclear attack. It has five floors, 106 rooms, including a gigantic hall where the Political Bureau world meet. It was never used in war conditions, and was only used for military exercises. Today it’s a permanent museum showcasing the 45 years of communist rule.
