What happens when tradition meets lightning fast footwork? Get ready clap your hands and tap your feet to this crowd pleaser! Struck by Lightning, choreographed by the legendary Sharon Leahy, delivers electrifying energy, rhythmic percussive footwork, and deep-rooted tradition in one unforgettable Appalachian dance. The joy felt by the dancers, musicians, and audience is palpable and contagious through your screen, creating a feeling of community and connectedness. Performed live at the 2017 Great Lakes Folk Festival, musicians Brad Battey (fiddle) and Myron Grant (guitar) play Old-Time tune Shove the Pigs Foot a Little Farther in the Fire as the perfect complement to the choreography and driving force for the dancers.

This routine features a fusion of Appalachian clogging and flatfooting styles and was named after the original tune "Struck by Lightning" by Rick Good. This high-energy piece was shared with full permission with the CommonWealth Dance Collective after the iconic Carry It On performance at the 2013 Wheatland Music Festival, which included two CDC dancers, Sheila and Alina.
