These are the lines from a famous song by a bengali baul poet Gagan Harkara who hailed from the village of Kumarkhali in Kushthia. As his title suggests, he was the postman in the locality and was a music lover as well. He used to deliver and collect letters from Rabindranath Tagore during the poets stay in Shelaidaha. Tagore to was quite impressed by Gagan’s poems and songs. It was Tagore who first published Harkara's song in his Prabashi Patra (a magazine) in 1322
In the year 1981 Hindusthan Records released this unique number written by Gagan Harkara, which was rendered by the famous folk singer Amar Pal. Again after 39 years the same numbers has been recorded in the voice of Tirtha Bhattacharya. The young singer has accumulated much appreciation due to his folk renditions in the recent times .
