The Kasaoka Islands are a group of islands off the coast of Kasaoka City, Okayama Prefecture. Floating in the calm waters of the Seto Inland Sea, this region is steeped in nature and history.
Takashima is approximately 22 minutes by high-speed boat from Kasaoka Port. A short boat trip across the Seto Inland Sea marks the beginning of a quiet island experience.
The island has a population of around 50 people. Small settlements coexist with abundant nature, and traditional lifestyles continue to thrive.
Located in the Seto Inland Sea, Takashima enjoys a warm, comfortable climate. The clear skies and calm seas are soothing to the soul.

Takashima is home to many historical sites connected to mythology. The entire island feels like the setting for an ancient tale.
Here in the Kamiura district, Mount Kamiura, 77 meters above sea level, is said to be a sacred place where Emperor Jimmu divined fortunes.
Emperor Jimmu, Japan's first emperor, is said to have ascended to the throne in 660 BC and is a central figure in the country's founding myth.
It is said that Emperor Jimmu stopped off at Takashima in Kibi Province on his way east from Hyuga, where he stayed to prepare military supplies and ships.
The Kojiki states that Emperor Jimmu stayed on Takashima for eight years, while the Nihon Shoki states that he stayed for three years, laying the foundations for the nation here.
At the summit stands the 8-meter-tall Takashima Angu Ishihi, one of Japan's largest natural stone monuments.

The island's tranquility is perfect for a leisurely stroll and immersing yourself in nature. The birdsong echoes soothingly.
Fishing is Takashima's core industry. Visitors can enjoy seafood processing using the bounty of the Seto Inland Sea, as well as experience set-net fishing.
The accommodation industry is also thriving, and guesthouses offering hands-on experiences that allow visitors to experience nature and mythology are popular. You'll spend a precious time experiencing island life firsthand.
