The Death Of Hitler's Ruthless Field Marshal - Walter Model

During the Second World War, there were a number of German Field Marshal's who were known for their war crimes and atrocities committed by their soldiers. Walter Model is seen today as one of Hitler's most skilled Field Marshals, as he was a successful defensive commander and he saw action in many different lands. But ultimately his campaign during the Ardennes Offensive was unsuccessful, and at the end of the war he was surrounded by American forces.

Model decided to allow many of his soldiers to desert and he 'removed' them from military service and he then decided that he would not be captured by his enemies. This is because he was wanted as a war criminal by the Soviets and also the Americans and he believed he would be executed for his actions. Because of this Walter Model inside of a Forest would choose to die by his own hand.
