Abstract:

"Iloilo City is one of the fastest growing cities in the Philippines. The expanding economy has led to an increased demand for electricity and with the increased population growth means an increase of waste generation that is being produced. For instance last January 2024, the city experienced a critical power insufficiency that affected a lot of people and businesses. Design Concept:

Waste, a constant threat to our health and environment, can become a potent "biohazard" if left untreated. The design concept reimagines the biohazard symbol, breaking it down into three circles representing waste management practices: "reduce," "reuse," and "recycle." Arranging the three circles in order, it portrays the processes of transforming waste into energy. This visual representation underscores the potential of waste-to-energy facilities, where previously discarded material can be reborn as a valuable resource. It showcases our potential to move towards a future where waste fuels a cleaner planet, not a looming threat. The design approach emphasizes architectural fluidity, characterized by interconnected spaces that seamlessly guide users through the built environment. The absence of sharp edges and obstructions fosters natural circulation, encouraging intuitive movement and eliminating barriers to users.
