About Matt Kay (Matt Nettleton)
Matt is a Somatic Psychotherapist and Co-Creator of Embodied Processing. He has worked in private practice for the last 8 years as a therapist, and also worked in various drug and alcohol rehabs supporting others on their recovery journey.
Matt is a certified Holistic Counsellor, Addiction specialist, a certified AOD (alcohol and other drugs) worker, and Hypnotherapist, but he works with various other modalities as well.
His integrative approach brings together the wisdom of ancient spiritual traditions and teachings on the nature of consciousness, as well as the findings of modern neuroscience around trauma and the nervous system.
Matt’s teaching is intuitive, open-ended and exploratory in nature, pointing students toward a space of presence where their own wisdom and innate intelligence can bring about integration, healing and insight.

Addendum:
In this recording the interviewer talks about her own experience with therapeutic somatic exercises, which she describes as cathartic and powerful on her own healing journey. This is said in support of somatic work and the somatic modalities that work with the body as well as the mind, promoting body awareness and the beneficial impact of working with every aspect and every component of our being on our healing journey, it is not against “talk therapy”, as that too has its place in therapeutic work and it often produces great results.
