Welcome to The Artsy Fartsy Club! 🎨✨

In today’s lesson, Mrs. Johnson takes us on a creative journey inspired by the beloved children’s book Stellaluna by Janelle Cannon. Join us as we create a beautiful bat painting that ties in perfectly with the themes and characters from the story.

Materials Needed:

• 9x12 or 12x18 paper (blue, green, brown, black)
• 2-inch squares (white)
• Colored pencils (Prisma colors recommended)
• Acrylic or tempera paint (white, black, brown)
• Glue stick
• Sponge
• Pencil
• Assorted scrap paper (blacks, browns, tans, grays)

What You’ll Learn:

• How to cut and prepare your materials for a bat-themed painting.
• Techniques for painting and assembling your bat artwork.
• Integration of cross-curricular lessons on nocturnal animals, bats, and echolocation from the book Stellaluna.

Why This Lesson is Great:
This art project is perfect for elementary students and can be adapted for grades 1 through 3. It’s a fantastic way to blend literature and art, making learning fun and engaging for young artists. Plus, it reinforces important science concepts such as marsupial characteristics and nocturnal behaviors. 🌙🦇
