Welcome to Perky's Analog Gear Demos. Please subscribe for more demos of vintage & rare effects pedals!

This is the big one! Three Fuzz Faces from three of the most revered boutique builders, made in three different countries & using three classic Germanium transistors. What could be better?? I know, I know...

From England, we have The First Fuzz from Denis Cornell, loaded with a pair of NKT275s. From USA, the Analogman Sun Face - with the Red Dot NKTs. And from Greece, the JAM Pedals Fuzz Phrase - packing the CV7003s.

There's always much talk about how these three transistors - and also these specific pedals - compare to each other. But today we're not going to talk about it - we're going to do it! Differences in component manufacturers, bias, etc might play a small role in some of the sonic variations between these pedals - but the bulk of what you're hearing is the transistors.

What do you think? Which is your favourite? And why? Comment below!

Guitar is a Fender Strat through a Hughes & Kettner Puretone Combo (recorded with an sE Electronics RNR1 Ribbon) and a Cornell Romany Plus (recorded with a 57)
