Produced between July and September 2023, TV2 takes inspiration from television and succulents. It's really just me after trying and figuring out how to create IDM drum patterns on this program. It has some of my first ever songs to use samples I found and threw together myself, with sampling being the most remarkable feature of Ultrabox.

PAW

It started with the release of Swamp. On July 31st, shortly before the album's deadline, I was trying to come up with one final song to be put in the album. But I just couldn't figure something out. I wanted something with primarily sine wave instruments and drums and some moog esque synths. I came up with this: https://tinyurl.com/2d63tj5v

That month, a challenge prompting musicians to make a song on Beepbox based off a plant was going around. On the last minute, I worked on the idea, deciding to make it more IDM focused, with clear inspiration from Rei Hirakami, using samples from the CR-78 for drums.

At one point the song, that was meant to be no longer than 3 minutes, was already over 7. I thought to myself: "Hmm, can I reach 10 minutes?". Surprisingly, it did, and it became my longest song in my history as a musician, surpassing What is Life Like for Planarian? at exactly 8 minutes. It became the third longest submission of the contest, reaching a second place tie. Yes, third longest. Congrats to Masked Eternity for first place and Soapic for second with their 30 and 23 minute songs respectively.

By this time I got the idea of making an album in this style, so I got to making another track. Some rather corny Roobarb and Custard samples and other ones from other old shows. Always wanted to do it since forever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

I don't know what's up with the ambient noise interlude. But I wanted to give it a half-awake dream-like feeling, or the feeling of being a television. Something. Overall it features pretty similar drums as the previous song. I thought some of the rhythms were interesting.


CHANNEL
Shortest song in the album. I made it just today, I think in under 1 or 2 hours. I simply wanted there to be 3 tracks. I was going to pick this one track I finished a while back but decided against it as I want to feature it in another project. So I made this. I'm honestly pretty happy with it. One day I might as well make it full lenght.


Overall... pretty cool i think.
