Raag Bageshri - Akbar Ali

Akbar Ali presents Raag Bageshri in a live recording on the rooftop of the historic Hindu Gymkhana building in Karachi, which presently houses the National Academy of Performing Arts (NAPA).

Artist Bio:

Originally hailing from a lineage of Qawwals, Akbar Ali was brought up in an environment of Qawwali but chose to dedicate his life to the forms of Khayal, Thumri, and Kafi. He learned these from his uncle, Ustad Mubarak Ali Khan, who was a student of the Sham Chaurasi gharana but considered Ustad Amir Khan (Indore Gharana) as his spiritual guide. All these varied influences manifest beautifully in the nuances of Akbar Ali's singing.
