“Lot of energy. Respect those guys a lot. Happy how they’re doing up here, proud of them. So, I’m ready to go to war for them,” Alexander said. “We’ve been through a lot in New Orleans, so I came up here to go out there and go off for them.”

Kwon Alexander Ready to ‘Go to War’ for Lions Coaches Dan Campbell, Aaron Glenn
The Detroit Lions bolstered their defense by signing veteran linebacker Kwon Alexander, a 10-year NFL standout known for his energy and leadership. Alexander, who has played for six teams, reunites with Lions head coach Dan Campbell and defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn, both of whom he worked with during his time with the New Orleans Saints in 2020.
Speaking for the first time since joining the Lions, Alexander expressed his admiration for Campbell and Glenn, praising their leadership and accountability.
“Lot of energy. Respect those guys a lot. Happy how they’re doing up here, proud of them. So, I’m ready to go to war for them,” Alexander said. “We’ve been through a lot in New Orleans, so I came up here to go out there and go off for them.”
Vital Addition Amid Injuries
Alexander joins a Lions linebacking corps riddled with injuries. Derrick Barnes and Malcolm Rodriguez are sidelined for the season, while Alex Anzalone is out with a broken forearm. This leaves the veteran to step up alongside Jack Campbell, Trevor Nowaske, Ben Niemann, David Long, and Ezekiel Turner.
Detroit also added defensive linemen Jonah Williams and Myles Adams to the active roster, while former All-Pro Jamal Adams joined the practice squad. These moves aim to provide depth and flexibility amid the defensive struggles.
Familiarity with Glenn’s Scheme
Alexander’s prior experience with Aaron Glenn’s defensive philosophy is expected to accelerate his transition. Glenn, a respected coaching candidate, has built a reputation for demanding accountability and fostering instinctive play.
“He’s just a legendary coach. Holds people accountable,” Alexander said. “He just makes sure everybody’s in the right spot in the right time. I’m just ready to go to war for him.”
Lions head coach Dan Campbell emphasized the importance of simplifying the playbook for new players to allow them to “cut it loose” on the field.
“The plan is, it’s gonna be a good plan. A.G.’s got it locked in, and I think these guys will go cut it loose,” Campbell said.
Alexander’s Approach
As he prepares to make an impact, Alexander remains focused on playing with energy and leveraging his decade of NFL experience.
“Just me being me,” Alexander said. “Just going out there, having fun, just having a lot of energy. Been in the league 10 years, a lot of knowledge. Just trying to get the ball a majority of the time, so it’s gonna be big for us.”
With his veteran presence and familiarity with Detroit’s defensive leadership, Alexander is poised to play a key role as the Lions fight for playoff positioning.
