Summer time fun for the birds is not that different from human kids: Thrush splashes in stream water

Sitting by out little gurgling brook is this Kalchure or Whistling Thrush of the Himalaya. Dipping in and out of a little pond within the stream, it joyously flutters its wings in the water and then flicks off the water droplets to dry off. Summer time fun for the birds is not that different from human kids!

The Whistling Thrush invariably nests inside holes of embankments, in eves of house roofs and similar cavities. Perhaps this is the first record of one nesting on an open face traditional tree nest that is neither a cavity nor concealed. A Blue-throated Barbet calls from its nest nearby while the barely two days old blind Thrush chicks enthusiastically pop their heads skywards in the hope of getting fed.

Himalayan Blue Whistling Thrush or the Whistling School-boy, male Kaleej Pheasant and Yellow-naped Woodpecker, Verditer Flycatcher and Black Sibia, White-capped Redstart, Spotted Forktail, White-cheeked Bulbul and a calling Collared Pygmy Owlet.
