Описание к видео USS MACON: FLYING AIRCRAFT CARRIER PART 2

The USS MACON- US NAVY airship from 1933-1935. It was a "flying aircraft carrier" used by the US NAVY to scout and be "the eyes of the fleet" at a time before radar. Capable of 9,200 mile trips at 55 knots(62 mph) and capable of launching and retrieving small bi-planes (Curtis Sparrowhawks). First launched on 4/21/1933 and tragically lost due to structural failure of it's upper fin on 2/12/1935. The MACON and sister ship AKRON, remain the first (and only, up to know) flying aircraft carriers. PART TWO Learn more at www.airshiphistory.com
