Symptom of the Universe has a few key changes throughout, it starts out in the key of E-Minor (G-Minor position in standard tuning), then modulates to F#-Minor (A-Minor position in standard tuning), before switching to B-Major (D-Major position in standard tuning).

It makes use of the E-Blues Scale, the F#-Natural Minor Scale, and the B-Mixolydian Mode.
