Targeting carp on the fly can be a lot of fun... or so I have heard. I have caught carp on a fly rod with a simple yellow popper; however, I can assure you, it was quite by accident. First time it ever happened to me, I was fishing for smallmouth about 35 plus years ago in dirty water and when this fish hit and ran... I thought I had a state record smallie. I never gave it one thought that a carp would take a popper, but that day... one did.
