Woodturning - Mess to Masterpiece?

So when this hybrid bowl first came out of the casting pot, it was hard to imagine getting anything good out of it!

I’ve been looking for a way to turn segmented bowls with spaces in between the segments that can be filled with epoxy resin. I’ve tried a couple of versions, but this is getting closer to what I’m looking for. The only real problem is that it created a lot of air pockets at the top of the gaps. I was able to fill them in with UV epoxy, but I wasn’t too happy with the way it looked. I’m also not entirely sure what the best way is to create a similar size gap horizontally between the rings. Still working on it!

The wood is Morado, which is one of my favorite woods. Basic woodturning techniques and careful sanding turn it into a gorgeous, super-smooth finish that just looks incredible.
