Fire Emblem (ファイアーエムブレム) is a tactical, turn-based role-playing series of video games developed by Intelligent Systems and published by Nintendo, beginning in 1990 with Fire Emblem: Dark Dragon and Blade of Light on the Japanese Famicom, and is ongoing to this day, with the recent release of Fire Emblem Fates on 3DS in 2015. There are currently 14 main entries in the series, across multiple video game systems.

The series focuses on strategic movement of characters across grid-based maps, with stories and characters familiar to standard RPGs. Throughout your journeys, you'll meet colourful casts of characters, each with their own strengths, weakness and tricks up their sleeves! However, the most notable feature of the Fire Emblem series is the "permadeath" mechanic, in which fallen characters remain deceased for the rest of the game, forcing you treat each move with care to ensure the survival of your army.

Fire Emblem: The Binding Blade, formerly known as Fire Emblem: Sword of Seals, was the 6th Fire Emblem game, released only in Japan in 2002, and the first for the Game Boy Advance. Set on the continent of Elibe, the story follows the young Lord Roy, the son of Eliwood from Fire Emblem: Blazing Sword, as he travels from country to country in an attempt to fend off the invasive forces of Bern, who are trying to bring back an ancient terror to rule the land.
