New 2024 Jetour Traveller Stargazer in-depth Walkaround

Jetour has introduced a new version of the Traveller SUV called the Stargazer, also known as the Dragon Wing Edition in China. This off-road-focused variant is the first creation of Jetour's new JMK (Jetour Makers Kingdom) division and will be produced in a limited run of 3,000 units, exclusively for the Chinese market.

The standard Jetour Traveller already has a rugged appearance, but the Stargazer elevates this with several off-road enhancements. Notable features include an external storage compartment on one side, a retractable ladder on the other, and a roof rack, all contributing to its Land Rover Defender-like aesthetics, particularly when viewed from the rear three-quarters. Additional modifications include a new front bumper with an integrated bull bar, a vented hood, an LED bar on the grille, side steps, protective covers for the taillights, and a redesigned tailgate storage compartment resembling a spare wheel holder. The SUV is also equipped with 20-inch wheels wrapped in 255/55R20 all-terrain tires.

While it's unclear if the JMK division has altered the suspension, the larger wheels might provide a slight lift compared to the standard model. The Stargazer retains the stock 2.0-liter turbocharged engine, delivering 251 hp (187 kW / 254 PS) and 390 Nm (287.7 lb-ft) of torque, with power sent to all four wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and the “intelligent” XWD electronic system. Priced at ¥219,900 ($30,627), the Stargazer is positioned above the standard Traveller, which ranges from ¥140,900 to ¥180,900 ($19,625 to $25,197) depending on the trim. The Jetour Traveller Stargazer faces competition from similar special editions like the Haval Raptor, Beijing BJ40, and Tank 300. The Stargazer is just the beginning for JMK, which plans to release three more special editions of the Traveller—mountaineering, rainforest, and elite—before expanding to other models in the Jetour lineup.
