Pt. Budhaditya Mukherjee: Live in Toronto - Raag Yaman Kalyan

Pt. Budhaditya Mukherjee was invited for a sitar recital by Raag-Mala, Toronto in association with the Aga Khan Museum, Toronto on 24th September 2016.

His first piece of the evening was in Raag Yaman Kalyan. He was accompanied by Soumen Nandy on tabla.

The renowned musicologist, teacher and vocalist Warren Senders was also present at this recital and was so impressed by Pandit-ji's performance that he wrote the following review:

Mukherjee's astonishing technical skills were everywhere evident, his virtuosity is always in the service of a keenly-functioning imagination and a musical intelligence of exceptional quality. His presentation of raga is methodical in development, flawless in execution, emotionally nuanced, and aesthetically coherent. Like a master calligrapher who is simultaneously a poet of surpassing lyrical gift, this integration of profundity and pyrotechnics is extraordinarily rare in music, calling to mind the accomplishments of artists like Glenn Gould and John Coltrane as well as the historical supernovae of the Indian classical firmament.”
