You cannot sit back and do nothing with scalp psoriasis. You have to do something and do it consistently. Start by avoiding these three things:

1) AVOID SCRATCHING OR PICKING YOUR SCALP.
I know it may feel good int he moment, but you are doing more harm than good. You are traumatizing the skin which will cause your immune system to inflame and cause a flare-up of the condition. There are safer ways to remove the flakes and soothe the itch - We will discuss this in another video installment.

2) AVOID ALCOHOL.
This one could be hard, especially with summer upon us. But the neurotransmitters in alcohol can cause inflammation which will, once again, cause a flare-up. If it’s impossible to cut it out all together, at least start by cutting out the hard stuff….please, I beg lol.

3) AVOID STRESS.
Stress is the number one cause of psoriasis flare-ups. Your immune system can process a stressful event as a trigger and go into overdrive - causing inflammation resulting in a flare-up. This can also become a dangerous cycle because the symptoms of the flare up can cause anxiety which leads to more stress and worse symptoms. So here are some pro-tips to help you with stress:

1) Build a confidence around your condition - Conduct research, understand what is going on with your body and how to manage/treat it.

2) Process & release stress in a healthy way - Let’s be honest, stress is unavoidable. But please try not to hold it in your body. Explore ways to release it!
