Roller dynamic balancing is the process of running the roller at a given speed, measuring the dynamic imbalance, and correcting the imbalance through the addition or removal of weight. Nowadays the machines are designed to work much faster for higher efficiency, thus dynamic balancing becomes increasingly important.

An unbalanced rotating roller will be unable to spin efficiently and will likely vibrate. The vibration may cause noise, exceed the design limits of individual machine components, and reducing the service life of the roller. Unbalance can place the entire system at big risk of catastrophic failure, especially where the rotating speed is very high.
