The 5-part sitcom tells the story of hapless media teacher Ian Butterworth (Ryan McDermott) and his lothario best friend Julian Wentworth-Farlington (Adam Brown). When the pair aren’t wasting time in the staff room debating the meaning of the monkey emoji, they’re out on the town and turning up to work hungover, sporting black eyes and being hauled in front of Principal Kipling for drunkenly “motorboating” young women via snapchat.

When Ian manages to attend work he’s usually avoiding marking and lusting after his co-worker Lucy (Zoe Lister, Hollyoaks). She’s the kind of girl every man dreams about, none more so than Ian. Much to their colleagues frustration, especially Julian’s, Lucy & Ian continually “friend zone” each other and wrestle with the whole will they wont they thing, often making them the talk of the staff room.

However this is much to the dismay of Principal Kipling (Brian Capron, Coronation Street), their egomaniac boss, a man who loves the sound of his own voice and he loves it even more when others listen, especially his star teacher Lucy. In fact he isn’t particularly fond of Ian & Julian’s recklessness when it comes to education, he’s also not impressed with Ian & Lucy’s blossoming friendship and it’s Kipling’s personal mission to give both Ian and Julian hell at any given opportunity.

Together the four make up a dysfunctional family and must work alongside each to survive the trials and tribulations of being a teacher, as friendships are put to the test, new rivalries are born and even love blossoms within the staff room.
