EPICC Unity Community Art Project by CIMB

EPICC Unity Community Artwork (“EPICC Unity”) is a colossal collage art project to commemorate CIMB’s 100 Years & More Celebration!

Conceptualised as a puzzle and measuring 18’ by 12’, this artwork was led by a Malaysian female collage artist Anisa Abdullah, which comprises of 24 pieces of 3’ x 3’ framed canvasses, containing a visual story of the past present, future, icons and symbols related to the Bank. Over 650 participants took part in completing this artwork, including Her Majesty Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah, the then Queen of Malaysia who graciously placed the very first piece of this collage, at the launch of CIMB Artober Art & Soul 2023.

In the spirit of encouraging participation towards this giant piece of art from all/various parts of the Bank, several pieces of the canvas, travelled to several locations to be worked on including Menara CIMB lobby, and at various events, such as CIMB Artober Art & Soul 2023 and CIMB EPICC Karrrnivaaal!.

The collage artwork took over 100 days to complete and and is made up of materials found in CIMB’s warehouse such as Angpow and Hari Raya money packets, brochures, old annual reports and ribbons.

EPICC Unity also earned a spot in the Malaysia Book of Records for the “Most Participants in a Community Art Installation Project”, a well-deserved recognition that truly exemplifies CIMB’s spirit of unity and creativity.

Look out for these symbols featured in EPICC Unity:
1. CIMB began as Bian Chiang Bank in 1924 with roots traced from Kuching, Sarawak and symbolised by the hornbill and Bukit Santubong mountain. The stripes of the average global temperature represent the Bank’s commitment to sustainability.

2. The RM100 note symbolises the 100 years of CIMB.

3. The cyclist represents our ongoing dedication to support local athletes and heroes.

4. The chevron, Octo and EPICC logo demonstrate the bank’s identity and culture.

5. The lady in the Kebaya, holding an umbrella over teamCIMB, lion and the Indian lamp symbolise CIMB’s diverse workforce; comprising staff from different faiths and backgrounds, rich and proud in diversity.

EPICC Unity is currently being displayed at the lobby of Menara CIMB located in KL Sentral, for a year. All visitors are welcome.
