Before April 1986, life near the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant, close to Pripyat, was peaceful. On April 26, an experiment on the 4th power unit caused two massive explosions, destroying the reactor, killing one worker, and releasing radiation that spread across Europe and even reached parts of the U.S. Pripyat was fully evacuated and remains abandoned. The disaster, one of the worst in nuclear history, led to the shutdown of the plant’s operations, with three units closed, one destroyed, and two left unfinished.

This story, with its tragic aftermath, draws curiosity and even tourists. Filmmaker Oleksandr visited the Exclusion Zone multiple times before filming this 8K walking tour. With expert guidance from Anna and Igor of Chornobyl Tour, he captured the most iconic locations over six days of intense exploration in Chornobyl, Pripyat, and nearby villages. Despite the devastation, nature is slowly reclaiming the area, with life emerging through the ruins.
