Each year the New York, Susquehanna & Western Railway (NYSW) puts together a special holiday train making stops in towns and cities across New Jersey and New York, where people can drop off their toy donations.

The New York, Susquehanna & Western Railway has brought back the silver paint scheme once worn by its fleet of ALCO RS1s and S2s. SD40-2 No. 3024, originally built in 1979 as Burlington Northern No. 7200, has been repainted in silver with a narrow maroon stripe. This color scheme was first introduced in the 1940s on the NYS&W's Alco diesels. The Susquehanna was one of the first railroads to fully dieselize, doing so in early June 1945. During a period of financial difficulty, the railroad simplified its look by removing the maroon stripe and adopting a completely silver scheme. Later, the NYS&W transitioned to its iconic black and yellow "yellow jacket" scheme, which is still worn by its locomotives today. Founded in 1881, the New York, Susquehanna & Western operates over 400 miles of track across New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania.
