GR86 Intake Sound Comparison: GR Cup Replica vs GR intake vs K&N intake

Описание к видео GR86 Intake Sound Comparison: GR Cup Replica vs GR intake vs K&N intake

The cup snorkel from Outbound Motorsports was on the car for all of these. Vid shows moderate acceleration, 1st/2nd pull from a stop, and a 30-80 pull in 3rd for each intake. The car's exhaust is fully stock in these videos. Captured with an Insta 360 using its built in mic, so the sound is OK, but isn't going to reproduce what you hear in car perfectly. All three sound better in real life than in this video, but the K&N is the clear champion in terms of intake noise.

The pulls from this video were in some older testing I did. I've since redone it under better controlled conditions, and after making a few tweaks with the K&N to make sure it was sealed properly. Before sealing it properly, it was slower than the stock airbox.

I did 5 30-80 pulls in 3rd for each on the same on-ramp starting at the same point based on a sign and timed them with a Dragy for each intake and the stock airbox. The stock setup (with the Cup Snorkel) averaged 8.07s 30-80. The GR averaged 7.91s 30-80, the Cup replica 7.94, and the K&N 7.93. This is with stock 18" PS4 tires, 50*F ambient, ~-500 feet DA, half a tank of 93, stock weight plus me, mats, and a tire pump in the trunk.

The cup replica intake is the full kit from Outbound with both resonators deleted (I did testing with each of them deleted individually and found neither mattered), the HKS intake tube (also doesn't matter in terms of power, but sounds cool), a JDM airbox without the carbon filter, and a drop in filter.
