This is a first for me: I managed to finish a cover on the same day the soundtrack drops! The show was so incredibly beautifully animated and the music was so touching that I felt inspired to make this medley. I decided to do a mashup from all three acts of Arcane: What Could Have Been x Guns For Hire x Goodbye.

I thought that it was fitting to start with music from Act III, then go to music from Act II, and then conclude with music from Act I (especially Goodbye, that ending though 😢). These tracks were composed by Alexander Temple and Mako (‪@wearemako‬). This video was filmed outside of New England Conservatory's Jordan Hall at Boston, MA.

For "What Could Have Been", I made sure to use a lot of layers to emulate the acapella that Sting uses. As for ‪@RayChenViolinist‬'s solo violin part, I definitely learned it very quickly (actually incredibly difficult to memorize), it really is very hard for the cello. As for the rest of the voices, I actually did it free form and didn't write it down, which is an approach I haven't done in a long while.

For "Guns For Hire" and "Goodbye", I drew a lot of inspiration from ‪@samuelkimmusic‬'s recent track! After working on recording the melody for him, I was inspired to take largely the same structure but fill out the rest of the voices with cello. I also snuck in a couple references to "Enemies" in there :)
