Conservative commentator Tucker Carlson has provided his take on the first US presidential debate in front of 4,000 fans in Sydney.

Speaking at Sydney's International Convention Centre, Carlson claimed that the mainstream media has long been aware that President Joe Biden "has dementia" and has been concealing this fact.

Carlson said the "Democratic operatives posing as journalists" on CNN feigned disbelief that Joe Biden "has dementia".

"But for the media today to be like, wow, we just got the diagnosis, this is shocking, he can't run for president," he said on Friday.

"Either they're really stupid ... or they're liars, they're truly dishonest, they're hiding the obvious from you."
