Originally composed for horn and piano as the last movement of her Global Warming Sonata, “Windswept” was transcribed for clarinet and piano. “Windswept” became “Sunswept” when a fellow Mu Phi member, Sue Dietz, asked if it might be transcribed so she and her husband could perform it. In reworking the piece Albert realized that the agility, range and sonorities of the flute make it the perfect instrument for this work that sweeps through the range of both flute and piano and creates sunny interpretations of the cascading motifs of triplets. “Sunswept" is a playful and lyrical interchange between the instruments with a jazzy interlude in the middle.
