Seniors, scams to be wary of when it comes to the hurricanes and recent natural disasters:

1. Always go to Charitywatch.org to make sure your money is going directly to the places you’d like it to like local charities on ground zero. “For my money, we give to the United Way and the Salvation Army.” – Arif Halaby

2. Be mindful of cars coming from disaster-riddled areas that have been damaged and then sent to California rebuilt and cleaned up and resold. 1 “Look for ‘salvaged vehicicle’ title” and 2 Look around the corners of the cars for signs of mildew or mold in the car. The answer is still to take it to your mechanic and have them fully inspect the vehicle.
