Do it yourself, high performance, omnidirectional eggbeater TV antenna (hack) instructions. Easy to build 2, 4 or 6 element whisk eggbeater TV antenna construction. Performs better than most commercial antennas. Somewhat omnidirectional, definitely mufti-directional 120-mile diameter reception with mast mounted outdoor amplifier. Instructional video. Using a Walmart mast mounted ONN outdoor (not the 004 "indoor") amplifier model number ONA17CH003 (81131 16015) HDTV antenna tutorial. My apologies for a previous error in the description. Initially had my written description as a 120 mile "radius" when it should have said 120 mile "DIAMETER". This antenna is a line of sight antenna with augmentation for normal cloud to ground bouncing after the curve of the earth is met. The higher the antenna off the ground the farther it receives. I receive 70 channels reliably in Sarasota. My reception range is from Tampa / St Petersburg to Naples/Fort Myers. With good weather conditions it has received as far as Orlando and Miami, but they are a weather phenomena. I can put this antenna in a pole at eye level in my front yard and receive 66 channels. If I move to the back yard I receive less than 1/2 of the channels, as there are houses only a few feet away blocking every view. You do need to select your placement carefully. Even on the roof of my house I have a loss of channels on one end of the house VS the other end. It competes favorably with all other commercial antennas I purchased. It outperforms many antennas that were advertised as 120-mile antennas. All my designs are for city dwellers and meant to receive more than one direction with simple grocery store elements. This antenna became even more stable when I added a second amplifier near the TV. When adding a 2md amplifier (indoors) you need to add it between the "power injector" for the mast mounted antenna and your TV. Otherwise the power for the Mast mounted antenna is interrupted and you receive nothing. So when adding an indoor amplifier it needs to be first in line from the TV and then followed by the power injector to the mast mounted outdoor amplifier. Use 2 amplifiers if you are using 50 feet or more of RG6 antenna wire.
