How to Convert a View Only Google Slides File to a PDF On Google Drive

Greetings in this Google Drive tutorial we shall be looking at how to download a view only and protected google slide on google drive as a PDF. This tutorial is great for if you have view only access to a Google Slides file but want to download the Google slide as a pdf so you have a local copy of that Google slide document.

This Google Slides tutorial will show you how to download a view only Google slide from Google Drive as a pdf file. This is a version of the Google Slide that will have all the contents of the google document file but will not be a slides file. This will be a html file that we download and then print to pdf via a web browswer.

The first step is to open up the Google doc file in your web browser. The next step is to edit the url. Replace the ending that has edit followed by some other characters with the following:

htmlpreview

It doesn't matter what doc of the google Doc file you are viewing when you edit the url.

Once you have edited the url, press the enter key. Now you will be taken to a html present view of the Google slide file. You can right click on the screen and save the webpage as a html file. Make sure for the save as type you pick Webpage HTML Only. If you pick a different html type, this won't work.

Now you need to go to the following url in a new tab: chrome://settings/content/javascript

Disable Javascript.

That is all you need to do. When you open up the html file for the Google slide you downloaded, you can see all the Slide in that htmlpreview view. You can't select anything in this downloaded copy or edit it, but this is a great way to make a local copy of a view only protected Google doc.

Doing this method of downloading a view only Google Drive Google slide document will not notify the creator of the document or the person who shared it or anyone that you have downloaded the view only file.

Now you either need to click on the print button on your web browser or press the 'ctrl' + 'P' keys at the same time on your keyboard. On a Mac press the 'command' + 'P' keys at the same time.

Then in the print menu, select the printer you wish to use and print the view only google doc file. You can also use this method to convert a restricted view only google drive doc to a PDF as you can print the downloaded html file to a PDF file too.
